MEMBRANE APPLICATIONS
Krystol Group understands that not one sole manufacturer or material can be utilised to cover every single waterproofing requirement, hence our crystalline based product range is complimented by a selection of conventional liquid membranes, sealants and coatings. These materials can be used in various applications and we’ve noted some of the main areas which will occur.
BELOW-GRADE AREAS
Retaining walls, planter boxes, lift pits and similar areas that are typically sub-soil backfilled regions. Usual waterproofing materials implemented are polyurethane or synthetic rubber (bitumen free), once waterproofed a protective layer such as protection board and drainage cell can be installed.
EXTERNAL WET AREAS
Balconies, terraces, podiums and similar areas which are then later covered with grass, tiles, pavers or decks. Similar membrane systems to below-grade areas can be used; bitumen, polyurethane or synthetic rubber, and then ultimately the area can receive the final surface treatments/finishes.
EXPOSED WET AREAS
Roof decks, facades, parapet walls and similar, areas subject to inclement weather and UV exposure. Acrylics are generally the most common approach being user friendly, but fortified UV resistant polyurethanes are an alternative option for horizontal areas which can also incorporate a hardwearing trafficable topcoat.
INTERNAL WET AREAS
Bathrooms, laundries, sauna rooms and similar, basically areas which will be subject to excessive water/moisture on a regular basis. Most water-based or solvent-based products can be used, but water-based products can be considered favourable due to low-odour vapours and compatibility with powdered tile adhesives.
MISCELLANEOUS AREAS
Water-tanks, swimming pools, water-features, reverse- tanking and remedial solutions are also available; for further information on our waterproofing services please contact our head office on 02 9522 6133.
